The Pareto Principle is often mentioned within the IT industry, although under the more common name of the 80/20 rule. It refers to the notion that 80% of customers only use 20% of the features within the software product they have purchased.
For some, they will fully utilise the system, for others, they will closely stick to this 20% rule. Think about it, how many of the pre-installed apps on your smartphone do you regularly use? How many more would you use if the phone provider showed you how to use them and get a better return on investment?
Think about every time software is updated, how many of the features do you bother to thoroughly learn vs. just try your best to use them and then return to your old ways of working? Do you follow the 80/20 rule?
Knowledge is power and understanding how to use the software to its maximum capabilities is the only way to see an improved return on investment. Some software can simply be switched on and used with little to no instruction, but those more complicated, larger systems require you to put in the effort first to see results. Think of learning a software system as exercising, at first, you’re unsure whether all the practicing and hard work is worth it, but then you start to see results and actually realise that all your hard work has paid off.
Smart Apprentices presents Smart Gym, the smart way to train your brain. We don’t want our users playing by the 80/20 rule or buying a system they’re only going to use 20% of, we want our clients experiencing the best of our whole system.
Smart Gym sessions are 30-minute webinars designed to show you and improve your understanding of some of the key parts of our e-portfolio Smart Assessor.
Software use has become more important than ever, with the rise of digital learning due to the pandemic COVID-19, being able to use an entire system and know-how all the features work is essential.
Smart Gym will guide you through each area of Smart Assessor, demonstrating how best to use the feature and compiling any questions asked throughout the time into our Frequently Asked Questions section on the Support tab.
We want to ensure your experience is a positive one and your return on investment is at its highest. The great part about the Smart Gym is you can attend as many, or as few as you like – it’s completely up to you.
With Smart Apprentices’ help, we hope to defy the Pareto Principle or the 80/20 rule and ensure you are using much more than 20%.
We look forward to seeing you at our Smart Gym sessions.
