A new tool has launched this week by the Institute for Apprenticeships & Technical Education (IfATE), the Revision Status Report will pre-warn the sector of apprenticeship standard revisions. The report will be updated every eight weeks, with the first report showing that currently 84 standards are being modified.

The report will show:

  • Apprenticeship standards currently being revised
  • A brief overview of the revisions planned for each apprenticeship standard
  • The stage that each revision has reached

The report also allows for opportunity to input views, either via a survey relating to the relevant standard submission, or via an Institute Relationship Manager.

IfATE said the tool was created after listening to feedback from the sector, where employers and providers had complained about not getting sufficient notice for standard revision changes or notice of when these changes would go live.

The published guidance around the report explained: “We have listened to user feedback and through the Revision Status Report we will prewarn the sector when new versions of apprenticeship standards are upcoming and when they will go live. This means that training providers and EPAOs can prepare for the new version, and work with employers and apprentices to ensure all parties are aware of how a new version being issued may impact their choices.”

The report splits standards down into four different stages of revision. These stages are:

  1. Apprenticeship standards taht are being revised by the relevant trailblazer
  2. Revised standards with new draft versions submitted for approval to the institute
  3. Revised standards with new versions having been approvade by the institute subject to certain conditions that are currently being addressed
  4. Revised standards with the new versions replacing the current versions for new starts on the dates indicated

The revisions featured in the Revision Status Report will only be those standards that have already had a route review completed.
